Shukuru2

The buzz is heating up for St. Louis' own fashion label, Shukuru 2. Born and raised in St. Louis, founder and designer Shukuru Bilal began designing womens' clothing over 20 years ago. Recently her eclectic, yet feminine designs have been featured in Delux magazine as well as the St. Louis American newspaper.   Currently she does custom designs by appointment and her clothing line can be found at Lee J. boutique downtown on Washington Avenue, with plans to expand into other local boutiques.

So what's next for Shukuru? She has several fashion shows lined up in the near future as well as a new company specializing in personal shopping/stylist services for professional women.  For more information about this emerging talent, please visit her website http://www.shukuru2.com/ or contact her at shukuru2@gmail.com

Hot (Pants) or Not

I pride myself on being an early adopter of the latest trends (sort of).  But the verdict is still out on this one.  I've actually seen this look in the club and I'm not quite sure if EXO or The City would be the appropriate venue for this type of ensemble (might wanna take that elsewhere, if you catch my drift).  But who knows, maybe if you have the physique of a young Naomi Campbell, you may be able to pull it off???  Anything is possible, I guess.

The Fine White Line

As I mentioned in my About Me page, I created this blog as an extension of the conversations I have with my girlfriends . . . this post is no exception.  So, in lieu of this morning's conversation: Today's Topic: WHITE SHOES!!! As the summer rapidly approaches, we will all witness an array of violations concerning this delicate matter, how dreadful!  But who says you can't  rock a fabulous white shoe? Here's a few examples of how it can and should be done.

Clockwise from top left corner: Christian Louboutin python pump, $1195; Guiseppe Zanotti studded cut out boot, $1250; Michael Antonio cut out bootie, $70; LAMB platform sandal, $299; Gucci Daryl platform sandal, $930; Miu Miu cage sandals, $775; Bebe Belinda sandal, $149; Camilla Skovgaard cut out platform bootie, $495.

Curve Appeal

To my delight, two of my favorite websites, ASOS and Forever 21 have both added fabulous, new Extended Sizes lines!!!  No more are the days where our plus sized Queens only have frumpy frocks to choose from.  Stylish looks from both websites are trendy and current without compromising edginess, sophistication, or quality.  There's definitely a need for this, and I'm glad retailers are finally starting to pay attention.  Forever 21's FAITH 21 line offers more youthful, fresh designs,

whereas ASOS's Curve features more polished, timeless classics.  Geared towards the contemporary consumer, each website boasts a wide selection of cardigans, jeans, leggings, tops, dresses, skirts, shorts and outerwear with a collection ranging from casual daywear looks to club gear with major sex appeal.   All prices are extremely affordable with prices starting at $19.80 and up.
